I want to preface my review by saying that the other comments seem to have been written by people who read and enjoyed the first book, which I haven't. ![]() Kissing Babies is the kind of book I call "doctor's visit" books, the kind I can stick in my bag, if I lose it I won't be heartbroken, it's mildly amusing, and it's the kind you can read in short bursts and it won't tax your brain cells. ![]() But regardless of the challenges they are faced with-strange weather, backroom bribery, or the illness of one of Laurie's dear Nitwitts-the former boss of the Piggly Wiggly and his team find a way to outdo themselves once again.more Along the way, Gaylie Girl, Hale's long-lost love, returns to Second Creek to shake things up even more. Hale's opponent is the self-serving and obnoxious Floyce Hammontree, who frankly would have preferred a career as a lounge singer, but who simply cannot stand being driven out of office by a former grocer.
